Forensic Science students learn crime-solving techniques

A student crime scene exercise took place recently on the Mission Valley Regional Occupational Program (MVROP) campus.
Student Evidence Collection Technicians (ECTs) were deployed to participate in a practical hands-on learning activity by processing a Meth Lab Explosion/Homicide crime scene. Teams of six to nine student ECTs examined the Meth Lab crime scene to find evidence of what took place in the trailer which housed the mobile crime scene.
This is just one of several 'crime scene' scenarios planned throughout the year by the Forensic Science instructor, Gordon Sanford. By enabling his students to have an opportunity to practice skills they are taught in the classroom, they learn how to obtain findings based on evidence and gain a greater knowledge of their field.
