Written Communications Approved conditional use permit for a large, family day-care home, for up to 14 children, at 6318 Smith Ave.
Approved conditional use permit and a planned unit development for signage at 5733 Stevenson Blvd. Three identical wall signs, one each on the south building, elevation facing Stevenson Blvd., the east building elevation facing Balentine Dr, and the west elevation facing the parking lot have been approved.
City Manager Reports November 26 City Council meeting cancelled due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Signed agreement with Johnson Engineering for mechanical, electrical and structural-design consultancy services to upgrade Community Center's HVAC (Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning) System. $17,750 has been proposed by Johnson Engineering for design and construction. Funds are available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant.
Councilor Freitas recused himself because he assists with the bingo at the Newark Pavilion. Voted 4 Ayes (Freitas recused) to amend Business Licenses & Regulations for Bingo Games. Total value of prizes awarded during the games, for charity, shall not exceed $500 per separate game.
Deleted "Records" section from Newark Municipal Code which required the police department to maintain records of each bicycle registered. The city's Bicycle Licensing Program no longer exists.
Council Matters Mary Hammock appointed to the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee.
Oral Communications Special meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 19 at 5:30 p.m., City Hall, to certify the elections and swear in newly-elected council members.
