Letter to the editor: A Veterans Day remembrance for the U.S. Coast Guard
I want to wish a belated Veterans Day salute to all Veterans, especially those who are serving and have served with the United States Coast Guard. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran who served with the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years.
I am sure it was an oversight but I would like to call attention to the Kids Scoop article on page 27 of the Tri-City Voice, "What is Veterans Day?" It is noted as "... a day to honor people who have served in the military during a war or in times of peace". The graphic image honors the Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Navy but left out the United States Coast Guard which has served in peacetime and major conflicts throughout the world. So, I would like to express my gratitude to Coast Guard veterans, God bless you and I hope you are remembered in Kids Scoop 2010.
