November 18, 2009 > Newly canonized saint, Father Damien to be honored Newly canonized saint, Father Damien to be honored Submitted By Trish Carney On November 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 pm, the Sisters of the Holy Family will have an afternoon of prayer, "talking story" and celebration in honor of the newly canonized saint, Father Damien of Molokai. The event will be held at their Motherhouse, 159 Washington Blvd., in Fremont. The Sisters went to Hawaii in 1947 and are grateful for this opportunity to honor the Hawaiian people with whom they have ministered over the last 62 years. They will also have a photo display related to the ministry which can be visited on that day or from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week.
