Hayward Public Library wins state award

Submitted By Sean Reinhart

On October 30, 2009, Hayward Public Library won top honors for its marketing abilities at the statewide "PR Excellence" competition, sponsored by the California Library Association, for its work on the Big Read.

The awards honor the highest quality efforts of California libraries in promoting and communicating their message to their customers. Hayward's Big Read project was one of numerous programs competing in three categories based on annual organizational budget: less than $5M, $5M-$10M, and $10M and above.

Hayward won first place in its budget category and top honor overall, Best In Show, outperforming entries submitted by larger library systems such as Contra Costa County and San Francisco.
