Matters of Community (MOC) hosts annual friendship dinner/dance
Submitted By Ashok Kumar
The fourth annual Friendship Dinner Dance will take place on Friday, November 13, at the Golden Peacock Banquet and Restaurant in Fremont. Proceeds from the event benefit MOC, a non-profit organization founded by Neal Kumar Bhardwaj when he was a junior at Washington High School. Now a junior at UC Merced, Neal has been featured on the website www.ucmerced.edu for bringing his passion to the university.
MOC envisions the use of music, art, theater and sports to help mainstream special needs. In the past four years this organization has expanded to support Jeena, Niles Centerville Little League, Delhi Blind Relief School (India) and Jazzinators.
The event is well attended by local business community and civil officials. Some of the sponsors include Farmers Insurance, J P Morgan Chase, Firma Networks, 7-Eleven franchisee owners' association, and California Bank & Trust. Several individuals, such as Mr. Raj Goyal, a MOC Board Member, are also making significant personal contributions to make this event a success.
This year several city and state officials such as the State Assembly Majority Leader Alberto Torrico, Fremont City Council Member Bob Weickowski, San Jose City Council Member Ash Kalra, and Fremont City Planning Commissioner Yogi Chugh, are among those participating.
The event includes live entertainment that caters to old and young alike. It features famous local artists such as, Jazzinators, Navin 'Clarinet Knight' Bharadwaj, iBhangra Team from UC Merced, and Dance Identity Bollywood dance extravaganza. A live DJ band is also at hand for the after-dinner dance. For further details and tickets to the event, please contact Neal Bharadwaj at (510) 304-7524 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
