Submitted By John R. Smith

The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City will present "The Community Colleges and High Schools Connection" at its next monthly League meeting. Panelists will be: Jim Wright, V.P. Academic Affairs Ohlone; Ron Travenick, V.P. Student Development, Ohlone; Claudia Quezada, Early Assessment Program, CCEB; Teri Hu, English Teacher, Washington High School.

Questions to be considered:

Can Ohlone & the school districts do more to prepare students for college & work?

Do the English AP classes taught in high schools by Ohlone College staff provide full college & University credit?

How does the Internet help credit transfers from community colleges & universities?

How do the high school class contents in English and mathematics relate to the expectations of colleges & universities as expressed in their placement exams?

Do the English Advanced Placement courses provide full college/university credit?

What are the effects on credit transferability and academic course availability with the decrease in financial support in public education?

The public is encouraged to attend and provide questions from the floor.
