Veterans Day, observed every year on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls, celebrates and honors America's veterans for their patriotism, and spirit to serve the nation and sacrifice for the common good. On November 11 back in 1918 World War I ceased when an armistice, a temporary cessation of hostilities went into effect on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. The day was commemorated as 'Armistice Day' which later on came to be called as the Veterans Day. This day has been observed since then to honor American veterans.

A Veteran's Day ceremony will be held in Milpitas to honor service men and women who have served our country for the cause of freedom. Between 30 and 100 people are expected to join the ceremony to show their appreciation for all veterans. The presentation of the colors, raising the flag and national anthem will take place at the annual American holiday. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony. This ceremony will be held, rain or shine. For more information call, Milpitas Parks and Recreation at (408) 586-3210.
