A Splash of Wine
By Suzanne Ortt
'A Splash of Wine' is a benefit fundraiser to support Family Service of the Tri-Cities. Join in wine tasting, a buffet supper, a unique tequila tasting and help Family Service continue their programs.
Founded in 1997, this non-profit agency provides affordable professional family counseling to the underserved in the Tri-city area. Its clients' backgrounds are diverse; services are available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi and Vietnamese. Children from neglected or abusive families comprise half the caseload. The staff nurtures these children and provides a place for them to tell their stories and to heal. The focus is breaking the dysfunctional family cycle.
In these challenging economic times, public support is crucial. Fundraising is one method used by Family Service of the Tri-Cities (FSTC) to raise funds; others include individual and corporate giving. Volunteers are needed, especially for general office work.
At 'A Splash of Wine,' taste wine from Brassfield, Cathedral, Chouinard, Page Mill, Thomas Coyne, and Westover wineries. The scrumptious supper buffet will highlight pastas, meatballs, chicken, and salad.
Festivities include live and silent auctions. One live auction offering is a fun evening for six couples with winemaker Westover who specializes in port. Another auction item is a Winery 101 class. The silent auction focuses on holiday items, mostly handcrafted. The popular wine contests add to the fun. 'A Splash of Wine' guarantees a good time for a good cause!
Family Service of the Tri-Cities serves the tri-city communities in prevention and resolution of individual and family problems. Its mission is to provide affordable resources to aid people to effectively cope with life's challenges.
