Submitted By Newark Police Department
On Sunday, October 18 at 00:20 a.m., the Newark Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a drive-by shooting that just occurred at a residence on the 5000 block of Robertson Avenue. As police officers arrived at the residence, they located a 22 year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to one of his legs. The victim was stabilized at the scene by arriving emergency medical personnel and later transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of his injury.
The initial investigation at the scene revealed that the victim had been standing in the garage of his family residence with a group of his friends. The occupants of a silver-colored, four door sedan drove past the residence and shot multiple times at the group standing in the garage. The vehicle then fled the scene and was not able to be located by responding officers. Crime Scene Investigators also responded to process the scene and recover evidence related to the shooting.
