Bolts lose and tie
Submitted By Blaise Castren
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, Lightning Bolts, of the FC Fremont Girls Under-14 House League, dropped a 3-1 decision to first place Stompers. Undefeated Stompers scored in the first two minutes of the game and led 2-0 at halftime.
It was 3-0 before Claire Castren scored her first goal of the season by redirecting the rebound off a shot by Synclaire Hamilton. It was also the first goal Lightning Bolts scored in three games vs. Stompers. Nicole Furukawa and Kailey Richardson both had good games on defense for the Bolts.
In a battle for second place, Lightning Bolts battled Momentum to a scoreless tie on Friday, Oct. 23. Both teams entered the game with 2-1-1 records in the second half of the season and now have one game remaining in the regular season.
Hamilton and Aaroyonna Lopez had good scoring chances in the first half for Lightning, but were wide of the net. Second half saw Cheyenne Gilman's corner kick set up Elena Strom, who just missed with her shot on goal. Amy de Landa also had two scoring chances, but could not convert.
Goalie Samantha Stevens made two key saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless. Zoe Rayburn played well defensively while Jenna Wondka, Tiffany Morales and Alexia Dentoni had good games passing the ball. |
