The object as obsession

Peter and Maureen Langenbach are the Fremont Art Association's (FAA) Fourth Quarter Showcase Artists. Langenbachs' current body of work in watercolors and sculpture will be on display at the FAA Gallery from October 21 through November 8.

Maureen was first introduced to the watercolor medium in college and has been painting with watercolor exclusively for over 25 years. After starting a family and moving to Fremont she continued taking painting classes at Ohlone College under the direction of Dave McLaughlin and Dennis Collins. The main focus of her painting is the depiction of ordinary objects arranged in a visually stimulating or challenging way. Each painting becomes a problem to solve, concentrating on the interplay of such elements as texture, color, light (reflections) and form. Maureen's paintings have been exhibited in Bay Area galleries and county and state fairs.

Peter has exhibited his work at the Museum of Los Gatos, collaborated on an installation for "The Day of The Dead" show at the Oakland Museum, and was part of a group show at Ohlone College art gallery. Peter states that, "My art is about humor from the content to the completely recycled/reused materials that go to make it up. Have fun with it."

An artist reception will be held on Sunday, October 25. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. A variety of new works from additional member artists will compliment the gallery's fourth quarter offerings. Please join with your community in celebrating these two very accomplished artists.
