Police arrest suspect
Submitted By Cmdr. Robert Douglas, Newark PD
On October 14 at approximately 8 a.m., a Newark Police Community Service Officer located an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot of the EZ-8 Motel located at 5555 Cedar Ct. A registration check revealed that owner, John Wallace Dangerfield, Fremont resident, 23 years of age, was wanted in connection with a robbery and kidnapping that occurred in Santa Clara County.
Newark Police Department officers investigated and learned that Dangerfield was inside one of the motel's rooms. The warrant indicated that Dangerfield had violent tendencies and to use caution when dealing with him. Based on the violent nature of the crimes he was wanted for, along with the note of caution indicated on the warrant, tactical teams from Newark and Union City were used to serve the warrant.
A perimeter was set around the motel and residents were evacuated. At approximately 10 a.m. Dangerfield ultimately surrendered and was arrested without incident. Any questions related to this investigation should be directed to Commander Robert Douglas at (510) 578-4220.
