Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Alex Jacobs

This week the spotlight heads back to the soccer fields and shines brightly on 12-year-old Alex Jacobs.

Alex covers the sweeper position for the Newark based Thunderstorms team. Soccer is not her only game as she's quite versatile and also competes at volleyball, basketball and softball.

Jacobs attends Centerville Jr. High and that's where she plays volleyball and does it four times a week. That, along with regular strenuous bike rides to keep her in peak condition for soccer which is her sport of choice. If this young lady has it her way she'll be competing at a professional level someday soon.

Alex really enjoys wood working and that's why she claims that wood shop is her favorite class. Outside of that she likes spending time with her friends and walking her two dogs. (She really loves those dogs.) Alex also looks forward to family outings - especially camping - and is always anxious for a visit with her grandmother.

Favorite foods, she's got them. When asked, Alex didn't hesitate to say, "Mom's tacos and Dad's chili" and in that exact order. Most of us have a sweet tooth and Alex is no exception with chocolate of any type as her favorite treat.
