MVAL Cross Country

Kennedy vs American: The two Fremont schools met at Quarry Lakes' three-mile course in Fremont on October 7, and American dominated both the boys and girls races (scores of 20-38 for the boys, and 15-Incomplete for the girls). American's David Brody led the entire way and then surged in the final mile to post a winning time of 17:33. His teammate Solomon Mulugeta finished second (17:56) and Kennedy's top finisher, Andrew Shim, took third (18:05). Shim's time set a new Kennedy High School record for the Quarry Lakes course. The American girls also won against an incomplete Kennedy squad. Andrea Morales (20:51) set the pace for American.
Washington vs Mission San Jose: The Warriors won both races at Mission San Jose, by scores of 20-41 (boys) and 20-37 (girls). Washington's Ben Rich was the top male runner with a time of 16:02, but the next six finishers were all from Mission, led by Joey Uken with a time of 16:11. The top 3 finishers in the girls race were all from Mission, with Madison Hirsch (18:06) leading the way, followed by Erika Cherk (18:28) and Siwen Dickstein (18:45).
James Logan vs Irvington: Logan won both races at Coyote Hills. The boys prevailed, 17-42. The top three finishers were Colts - Tom Hu (19:03), Mason Hartwell (19:11) and Jose Baltazar (19:13). The Logan girls won their race 21-34. The top two runners were Logan's Sarah Perrin (21:49) and Jessica Ramirez (22:12). Victoria Ramos led Irvington, finishing third with a time of 22:32.
