Do you like to laugh? Then, attending the comedy show sponsored by the Pathfinder Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) will be a good choice. To celebrate their 45th year, the organization's major fundraiser on Sunday, October 18 is a comedy night with auction, featuring Mark Pitta. The event will be held at the Saddle Rack in Fremont.
A popular motto is that laughter is the best medicine. Studies show this is true; laughter combats stress, increases relaxation, and improves resistance to disease. It can even help prevent heart disease. So your attendance will benefit both the Pathfinder Chapter and your health.
Pitta is a veteran of the 1980's comedy club scene in San Francisco. From there his career took varied twists and turns. He appeared on the Tonight Show first with Johnny Carson and several times with Jay Leno. For five years he has been the roving entertainment reporter on a local television station's morning show.
This show opens with musician Clark Burton, a guitarist since the age of fifteen. Now retired, Clark enjoys playing for non-profits. Married with four children, he resides in Woodside. Before retirement, he worked as an engineer with four patents to his name and was a small business owner.
Kathy Zubrod, ABWA Chapter President states, "Since Pathfinder Chapter was chartered in October 1964; it has raised $183,000 through fundraisers to provide educational opportunities for local women." The mission of the ABWA is to bring together women of diverse backgrounds and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.
Pathfinder Chapter belongs to the National ABWA headquartered in Kansas City that celebrated its 60th anniversary two weeks ago.
A second event for the Pathfinder Chapter's 45th anniversary is a dinner celebration at the Newark Hilton on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to attend the $25 per person dinner meeting.
Celebrate the ABWA's 45th anniversary. Share laughter; connect to others, lighten your load, and stay grounded.
