Niles Centerville Little League (NCLL) would like to thank the Fremont community for the support everyone extended as our Senior All-Star team played their way to the "Maine Event." It was amazing how one team could bring a community together. Your cheers, phone calls and e-mails were very much appreciated and will not be forgotten.
NCLL would like to thank the city of Fremont and the Fremont Police Department, including Mayor Wasserman, Geneva Bosques, Chief Steckler and Sgt. Delgado, for the support they gave to the Parade of Champions that was held in Niles on last month. We would also like to thank the Niles Main Street Association including Nancy Haylock and Al Cunha for not only assisting in putting on the parade, but for also hosting a wonderful celebration and BBQ in the park for everyone who came to honor the All-Star teams.
A big thank you goes out to the Washington and Irvington high school marching bands, K and K Twirlers, the Niles motorcycle group and the many people who escorted the players down Niles Boulevard in their "classic" cars. NCLL greatly appreciates the support that was extended to the league from District 14 Little League including Fremont American, Newark American, Newark National, Warm Springs, Centerville American, Centerville National and Mission San Jose. We are competitors throughout the regular and tournament seasons but your support of the NCLL Senior team is what makes Little League such a wonderful organization.
NCLL was, and continues to be, greatly appreciative of the Tri-City Voice for their coverage of not only the Senior All-Star team but of local youth sports. The paper continues to be an asset to our community.
I would personally like to thank all the families that make up NCLL. Your continued support of not only this team but the league itself is what makes "NC" such a special community. It is our own "Field of Dreams." I would like to recognize the NCLL Board of Directors: NCLL is lucky to have such a dedicated group of people who put in many long hours all year and provide the backbone of our Little League community.
Finally, I would like to thank the Senior All-Star players, coaches and manager. In a year of global uncertainty, you provided this community a reason to come together and cheer for what is still good about not only this town but the world itself. You represented Niles Centerville, District 14, Fremont (Niles) and Little League baseball with class and grace.
At every step of your journey to Maine, you gained the respect of your opponents on and off the field. We applaud your effort; the way you won; and even the way you faced defeat. When the championship game was over, even as you faced your own disappointment, as a team you stepped back on the field to thank the volunteers who ran the tournament; your opponent for the competition; and your families for their support. That one action showed everyone what a special group of young men you truly are. You were a true Little League All-Star team.
I would like to extend a special thanks to the families of the players, coaches and manager. Each one of you have been long time supporters of NCLL which I know made this journey that much more exciting to watch. It was a summer we will not forget and one we will talk about for many years to come.
