Jana Lee leads Moreau Catholic tennis

Moreau Catholic High School of Hayward beat San Lorenzo High School, 5-2, at Hidden Hills on September 29. The Mariner's Jana Lee took down Lynn Mymala in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0. Hazel Cruz knocked out San Lorenzo's Christine Nguyen, 6-0 and 6-3.

Marilyn Muhr and Elissa Joseph of Moreau Catholic dropped a set before winning 6-3, 4-6 and 7-6 (3) to Judy Chen and Claudia Diep.

Despite a strong showing from its one- and two-ranked singles players, Moreau Catholic lost 5-2 in its match against Arroyo High School later in the week. Arroyo's Felicia Fong finished Delani Dumpit, 6-2 and 6-2. Mariners fourth singles player Gaby Blanco lost to Eva Pong, 2-6 and 4-6. Moreau Catholic is now 3-3 in the Hayward Area Athletic League.

Lee, the Mariners number-one singles player, improves her record to 5-1 on the year.

In other action: Irvington High School defeated James Logan, 5-2, at Irvington last Tuesday; and Milpitas High School edged out Palo Alto and Mountain View, 4-3.
