Spend a day with Shark

Are you brave enough to get up close and personal with a live shark? Leave the fear of sharks at home and explore their local habitats with guided walks at the Environmental Education Center in Alviso. This fun-filled weekend includes a frenzy of activities, games, crafts, face painting, story time, various hands-on activities that will uncover the truth about sharks and teach visitors about their behavior and natural history.
"For Shark Day, we typically expect around 400 people. Our special events have been going on for about 10 years, and participants seem to really enjoy them," said Interpretive Specialist Debra King. "We have a lot of fun events planned, from arts and crafts, to a mud creatures study and a live shark to pet," she said. It's great fun for the whole family where everything is free. No reservations are required either. For more information contact Debra at 408-262-5513 ext. 102. Trails are generally level. Surface and trail conditions may vary. Please call for accessibility information. For directions, visit www.fws.gov/desfbay.
