Free reading and writing workshop for parents
Submitted By Rick La Plante
Parents interested in learning strategies to help their children succeed in reading and writing are invited to a free workshop on Saturday, October 10, presented by three New Haven educators and sponsored by the Alameda County Reading Association.
Parents will learn dozens of easy-to-use "teacher tips" in a fast-paced workshop that will include demonstrations, handouts and ideas for practicing with their children. The presenters will be Cheri Benafield, assistant principal at Alvarado Elementary School, Kathy Langham, who teaches at Pioneer Elementary and Bee Medders, a New Haven teacher who is working on-loan as a teachers' trainer in Santa Cruz.
The workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Educational Services Center. Space is limited, so parents are asked to register by October 3 at www.acreading.org or by contacting Nancy Panzica at (510) 487-9681 or npanz@comcast.net. |
