Piece of history
Submitted By Jeff Yaeger
Milpitas resident Jeff Yaeger will be featured on www.brasscast.com as this week of September 20's podcast.
Yaeger has spent the last four years researching an American band composer from the time of John Philip Sousa, that no one remembers today. His name was James M. Fulton (1873-1940), and he wrote more marches than Sousa.
Yaeger has done biographical research on Fulton as well as recorded 106 compositions by Fulton that have never been recorded before. To do this, he gathered professional musicians from around the Bay Area and created the New Fulton Band, whose sole purpose is to record Fulton's forgotten treasures.
Yaeger's goal with the project is to bring back Fulton's music and to create a resource on Fulton and his music for future generations.
All of the music the New Fulton Band has recorded is available for free download at the site www.forgottenamericanmusic.com so that everyone may experience this exciting American musical history!
Brasscast.com features different bands and composers each week from around the world.
