The Fremont Rampage went to Danville Diablo Vista Park with only 11 players on Sunday, Sept. 20, so they knew everyone would have to play their best with no chance of a rest. Luckily it was a 10:30 a.m. kickoff and they didn't have to face the Danville afternoon heat, prevailing 3-0.

The Blaze started strong and pushed forward from the opening kickoff. Most of the early game was played in the Rampage's half, but strong defensive performances by Rampage's Malinda Cheung, Kinsey Mead, Jessica Spano and Megan Dunn ensured the Blaze did not generate many scoring chances.

The Rampage's attacks relied on quick breakaways and in the 20th minute Erica Ohye stormed down the left wing shrugging off a fierce challenge before gaining her composure and powering a strong shot under the Blaze keeper to make it 1-0. The goal changed the game as the Rampage gained control of midfield and attacked the Blaze goal. Rhian Dunn took several measured corners as the Rampage pressed home their advantage, before the ball popped out of the Blaze penalty box to Molly Cory who calmly lobbed it over the keeper from 20 yards out for her first goal of the season.

With 5 minutes of the first half left, Sarina Utamsing put the game beyond doubt, with a well-taken shot from the edge of the penalty box which powered into the roof of the net, giving the Rampage a 3-0 halftime.

The second half started like the first with the Blaze frantically trying to get back into the game. However, the Rampage slowly took command for the game and the addition of a 12th player, Tiffany Sarchet, helped strengthen the heart of their defense.

There were no goals in the second half, but Megan Dunn came closest as her hard shot from a narrow angle slammed off the goalpost, only to bounce off the keeper for another corner. As the Rampage pushed forward, Jagpreet Sidhu, Meghana Paranjpe, Zarin Khan and Rhian Dunn all had chances to add to the lead but fierce defending by the Blaze kept the final score 3-0. Rampage keepers Zarin Khan and Meghana Paranjpe combined for the shutout.
