September 16, 2009 > Thunderstorms win two Thunderstorms win two Submitted By Moira Jacobs The Newark U14 Thunderstorms began the season with a bang as they beat the Union City Colts 3-0 Saturday, Sept. 12, and the Newark Attackers 2-1 on Sunday, Sept. 13. Saturdays offense, led by Megan Heyes, Alex Mejia and Emily Hoeven, forced the Colts to defend its goal most of the game. Outstanding defense by Ayotli Gomez and Elizabeth Roney limited the number of goal shots the Colts were able to shoot. On Sunday, the Thunderstorms took numerous shots on goal but the Attackers defense allowed just two goals shot by Neha Pasricha and Alisa Prathnadi. The Thunderstorm defense, led by sisters Lexi and Savannah Christopulos, held the Attackers scoreless until the last minute of the game when a goal was scored on a penalty kick.
