Lightning Bolts lose opener

Lightning Bolts, of FC Fremont's Under-14 Girl's House League, played solid defense in the first half against Stompers on Saturday, Sept. 12, but failed to muster much of an offense in a season opening 2-0 loss.
Bolts' goalie Samantha Stephens made three big saves, including a spectacular rolling stop on one of the Stompers shots as the two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half. Defenders Synclaire Hamilton and Kailey Richardson of the Lightning Bolts made key contributions to the 0-0 halftime score.
After the intermission, Stompers kept up the pressure scoring their first goal in the opening five minutes of the second half. They added the second and clinching goal later in the half. Alexia Dentoni had the only shot on goal for the Lightning Bolts while Zoe Rayburn played well at forward in LB's losing effort. |
