Luncheon showcases unity in diversity
By Meenu Gupta
International Day luncheon at the Ruggieri Senior Center in Union City set an ambience to celebrate unity in diversity. Participants dressed up in their country's native clothing shared stories of life from their country. Manny Taboada, one man band, set the tone for celebrating diversity with its music. Performance by the group received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Dressed in their favorite, colorful native, seniors enjoyed a delicious meal and enjoyed socializing. "This event is one of our more popular ones and is usually a sellout every year," said Edward Rivera, Office Administrator at the Ralph & Mary Ruggieri Senior Center. The 14,000 sq. ft. building, located at 33997 Alvarado-Niles Road, is part of the City's Senior Village and the venue for many activities and events ranging from ballroom dancing and health & fitness to lunches and live music.
