Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Shelby Casey
This week the spotlight finds 12-year-old Shelby Casey of Fremont. Shelby's sport of choice is soccer and she puts her full focus on this game. Favoring the positions of defender and center midfielder, she plays hard for the Newark House Soccer League Thunderstorms.
Casey has worked diligently to overcome a knee injury sustained during a previous soccer match. She has rehabilitated herself by regularly following her physical therapist's recommendations for rehab in between her regiment of match practice three times a week.
Currently attending Thornton Junior High, this young lady's subject of choice is world history and she's studying to soon become none-other-than a physical therapist herself so that she can help others to overcome their injuries also.
When she's not practicing or playing on the soccer field, Casey relaxes with some reading followed by a little TV time; usually on the Disney channel. She also looks forward to spending time with her family vacationing at her grandma's cabin up north on the Russian River. Favorite foods? You bet, Shelby will always place an order for her favorite ribs platter when dining out and finish it off with a chocolate dessert. |
