Awarded a contract for operation and maintenance of Union City Transit and Paratransit to MV Transportation, Inc. from Oct 3, 2009 through Jun 30, 2012 with the option to extend for up to an additional two years. The cost for 9 months [Oct. 3, 2009 to Jun 30, 2010] is $1,845,434 and for FY 2010-11 and FY 2011-12 will be $2,528,137 and $2,642,494, respectively. Services will be funded with local Transportation Development Act, State Transit Assistance and ACTIA Measure B operating grants and passenger fares. Other Federal, State and local operating grants will be pursued as they become available. There will be no impact on the General Fund.
Two 2010 Toyota hybrid sedans will be purchased for use by the Public Works Director and the Economic and Community Development Director. Funding sources for the two vehicles are from Transportation Development Act and RDA Fund for a total of $52,769.98. Vehicles to be supplied by Fairfield Toyota.
Approved mandatory requirements for green building and landscaping practices.
Approved the ML (Light Industrial) Zoning District regulations to restrict outdoor storage and to require that specified uses provide office and employee facilities in a completely enclosed building.

Reviewed Association of Bay Area Government's multi-jurisdictional local hazard mitigation plan.
Accepted United States Depart of Justice grant award of $1,494,992 to hire four police officers. The City's reserve funding will supplement the grant to fund Union City Police Department's Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) Unit. The COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) Grant is a four year grant intended to mitigate loss of nine sworn personnel due to cutbacks.
