An Ice Cream Tuesday
Mary and Steve Shambaugh enjoy living in their neighborhood. Each year they show their appreciation by organizing an informal get-together for their neighbors featuring ice cream sundaes for everyone who stops by. It all began last year with an entry in the Dreyers Slow Churned Neighborhood Salute contest. The Shambaughs were selected to receive ice cream and all the fixins' for a block party and everyone had a great time. Last week, even without the award, but with continued support of Dreyers, they did it again!
This time there was even more to celebrate as they joined with the Lake Area Residents Association and Boy Scouts in Newark. The party was held on Tuesday, August 26, was also a celebration of the newly renovated Lakeshore Boat House, an Eagle Scout project of their son, Alex. As ice cream sundaes were assembled then quickly disappeared the camaraderie of new and old friendships along with warm, sunny weather epitomized a relaxing summer evening with friends. |
