RDA to assume existing purchase and sale agreement between Callahan Property Company, Inc. and Baystone Development and purchase 5.94 acres for $12.4M at 1504-1620 South Main Street. The property will be sold to South Main Senior Lifestyles, LLC, in two phases for development as 180 senior units with a continuum of services from independent to assisted living and 207 multi-family units with no age or income restrictions.
Amended FY 2009-10 Budget to remedy impact of state budget appropriations.
Milpitas Unified School District presented an update on the "Raising a Reader" program.
Sister City relationship with Tsukuba, Japan, extended for five years from September 1, 2009.
Approved plans for $11M renovation of Cardoza Park in three phases, commencing January 2010. Vote of 4-1 in favor. Councilor Giordano voted "No" given that plans include only seven additional spaces (currently 113 spaces) compared with much greater demand for parking.

Public Forum
A member of the Sunny Hills Neighborhood Association has asked the City intercede to minimize blight in neighborhoods with a high incidence of foreclosure. Weed abatement is the issue. Staff has contacted the bank (the owner) but the Association wishes to know at what point the City and County should undertake the work if nothing is done. |
