Supervisor Scott Haggerty lends support to local nonprofits
Submitted By Carol Arata
For the fifth straight year, Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty purchased pigs at the Alameda County Fair auction with the intention of donating the meat to those in need within his district. Supervisor Haggerty purchased 2,610 lbs. of pork at the auction and personally delivered the meat to Abode Services in Fremont and Open Heart Kitchen in Pleasanton.
"Due to the current economic crisis, we are seeing an increasing need for our services," said Louis Chicoine, Executive Director of Abode Services. "Supervisor Haggerty's continued support provides much-needed assistance during this challenging time." Established in 1989, Abode Services seeks to end homelessness by assisting low-income, un-housed people in securing stable, supportive housing. Abode Services offers eleven housing programs along with a variety of services to assist individuals in building a better life. For further information, visit www.abodeservices.org. |
