Union City Auto Show features cars that just keep going and going
By Marty Friedman
Ever question American car quality? Then you are in for a learning experience at Union City's "Hot August Day" Senior Auto Show, on Saturday, August 8.
For the ninth straight year, the Ruggieri Senior Center will feature dozens of Model T's, Model A's, hot rods, customs, classics, 1920's models, and 1930's all the way up to the Camaros, Firebirds and Corvettes of the 70's - enough models to fill a Hollywood sound stage!
This isn't just an auto show. It is a major Union City event. Kids bring their dads. Dads bring their dads. Moms bring the family. Everyone feasts on motorized "eye candy," not to mention the hamburgers, hotdogs and lemonade served at the BBQ.
The whole town will be lined up on August 8, to watch these legendary vehicles wend their way to the Ruggieri Center parking lot. Come see a 1927 Ford complete with rumble seat, a 1926 T-Coupe that Calvin Coolidge might've owned, the 1954 Victoria your dad might have taken to the drive-in, or the 1970 Ford Mustang right out of West Side Story.
Local seniors who've been keeping their pride and joy under wraps in the garage will bring out their car or truck, shine it up, and show it off right at the Senior Center.
In fact, second only to showing off their new grandchild, these seniors are just bursting with pride over their dream machines. Registration fee is just $5. No admission is charged. "Timeless" T-shirts are on sale for just $10.
While visiting the show, get to know the Ruggieri Senior Center founded over eleven years ago by Ralph and Mary Ruggieri. The Center boasts an exercise area upstairs complete with treadmill, stationary bicycle, ping pong table, plus an art program, arts and crafts, dance instruction, full lunch program and lots more. Help support the activities of the center by attending their Senior Auto Show.
