Olive Hyde presents Woodturners Invitational
Wood is one of the most ubiquitous materials used in our society. The beauty of a tree as it grows is undeniable to most of us offering shade, shelter and life-giving oxygen as it recycles carbon dioxide. Artists have admired the shape and form of trees for centuries and even the least artistic of us has benefitted from use of wood as fuel.
Olive Hyde Art Gallery has turned its attention toward artists who make a different use of wood. At the Woodturners Invitational showing, sponsored by Bay Area Woodturners Association and Silicon Valley Woodturners, visitors will see the results of visionary artisans who have transformed blocks of wood into another form as varied as the trees around us. From small to large, intricate shapes and varied uses give wood a new life and purpose. Many exhibits must be seen to appreciate the care and skill required to produce these fine works of art. Plan to visit Olive Hyde Art Gallery soon to feel the warmth of finely turned wood.
