Proclaimed August 4, 2009 as National Night Out in Fremont
Approve a General Plan Amendment to change land use designation from Medium Density Residential to High Density Residential and change zoning from Planned District to Multi-Family Residence District for Main Street Village on Main Street and High Street in the Irvington District.
Adopt a revised Housing Element for submission to State Housing and Community Development Department (HCD). HCD comments on the initial submission indicated it was inadequate. A revised draft Element was prepared to address HCD concerns and presented to Planning Commission and approved June 25, 2009. Although the due date for submitting the Element was June 30, 2009, HCD told Fremont staff that submission by mid-July would be acceptable.
Acquisition of Town Fair One, a 1.59-acre property located at the corner of Capitol Avenue and State Street. Appropriate $4M from Park Dedication Fees for 1 acre purchase of the site for a future civic park and $2.4M from Downtown Plan project for continuation/expansion of existing City facilities in Midtown District.
Acting as Fremont Redevelopment Agency
Approved an Exclusive Right to Negotiate Agreement with Blake Hunt Ventures, Inc. and Centerstreet Housing, LLC for Centerville Unified Site. Proposal is for mixed-use residential/retail consisting of approximately 30,000 square feet of retail space on Fremont Boulevard and 150-200 residential rental apartments and live-work units.
