Letter to the Editor: In memorium
I'm very sorry to report that Mr. Richard Belcher, Vice President of the Fremont Cultural Arts Council, passed away suddenly this past week. His death is a great loss for the local arts community. Not only was he an active FCAC officer, he also served as liaison with the Olive Hyde Gallery and as an honorary board member with Newark's Stage 1 theater company.
Richard brought a lot to the table; especially his character. He was the perfect gentlemen while still providing a strong voice in support of arts for children. He worked tirelessly in support of many FCAC projects, including Cultural Arts to Schools (CATS) and the Cross Cultural Arts Exhibit this past spring. He was the ideal volunteer, always open to setting up a display, staffing an information table, or actively participating in a sometimes lengthy discussion of FCAC business. It was always a pleasure for me to see Richard pull up in his classic Mustang. I know his family will miss this darling, sweet man dreadfully, as will we all. Margaret Thornberry President - FCAC
