Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Chelsea Sparkman
This week the player spotlight takes us to the Niles district of Fremont where we meet 11-year-old Chelsea Sparkman. Sparkman's sport of choice is volleyball and she chooses to play the position of setter.
Chelsea has been playing for four years now and has been participating in league play for the last year. She takes her game serious and to perfect her skills she will be off to volleyball camp in a few days to study the sport with some seasoned athletes. Sparkman practices her sport regularly and even has her own beach volleyball court in the backyard.
Volleyball is not the only sport at which Sparkman stays active, she's also involved in basketball, swimming, softball and skiing. Sparkman attends Holy Spirit School in Fremont and looks to fulfill her love for animals by becoming a veterinarian someday soon.
In her spare time Sparkman enjoys browsing the Web on her computer, playing games on her Wii and looks forward to bike rides with her mom. When the day is done Sparkman looks forward to a hearty bowl of her favorite pasta while thinking of new strategies for her next game of volleyball.
