Union City opens new fire station
Submitted By Assistant Fire Chief Andy Smith
Union City Fire Department has opened Fire Station #3, located at 33942 - 7th Street. The ceremony took place on Saturday, June 27. This new state of the art, green facility, is replacing the original Decoto Fire Department Station formerly located on 10th Street.
Appropriately, just as opening ceremonies were about to begin, a call for service was received and an engine exited to assist citizens. Following the presentation of colors, invocation and welcoming remarks by Fire Chief Carlos Rodriguez, City Manager Larry Cheeves and Mayor Mark Green, a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opened the doors. City dignitaries and staff were on hand to celebrate with residents. Refreshments and an open house followed opening ceremonies. Guided tours were given by fire personnel and fire engines were available for viewing and access.
