Corporate games awards

Corporate Games awards for 2009 were presented on June 25 at Newark City Council meeting by Mayor David Smith.

First and second place winners in each of two divisions were awarded. Division I Champion was awarded to City of Newark team. City Manager, John Becker accepted the award on behalf of the city. Runner-Up award was won by Union Sanitary District. Krystal Phaneuf was not present.

Division II Champion award was bagged by Beeline Group. Jennifer Naughton-Jaquez was also not present. Andy Griggel accepted the award for Runner-Up Cargill Salt.

"This is a program we do each year, this being the 20th year. We invite the local companies to participate and the team-building event runs for three weeks," said Recreation Coordinator Bryan Cobb. Youth and Adult Sports. Games included are softball tournament, basketball, soccer, volley ball, badminton to name a few. The games were held in the last week of April and the first two weeks of May.
