Submitted By Darryl Reina

The city of Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is now accepting registrations for two girls summer basketball camps at the Silliman Activity Center on Mowry Avenue in Newark.

Session one will be held Monday through Friday, June 22-26, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; session two will be Monday through Friday, July 20-24, at the same times.

Each camp will be directed by Newark Memorial High's girls varsity basketball Head Coach Darryl Reina. Along with Coach Reina will be a staff of knowledgeable basketball minds.

The camps are designed for girls 8-15 years of age at all skill and ability levels.

Entry fee for the camp is $150 for Newark residents; $159 for nonresidents. Included with the fee is a camp T-shirt, and players will have chances to win awards and daily prizes. A special pizza lunch will be provided on Friday.

Skills to be learned at the camp include shooting, ball handling and playmaking, individual- and team-scoring development, improved practice habits, special workouts for guards, wings and post players, and individual- and team-defensive skill development.

To register, call 510-578-4400 or e-mail bryan.cobb@newark.org. For more information or questions, contact Coach Darryl Reina at darryl14r@aol.com.
