May 13, 2009 > Strikers lose in the end Strikers lose in the end Submitted By Blaise Castren Strikers, an FC Fremont Girls Under-15 House League soccer team, could not hold a 1-0 lead and dropped a 3-2 decision to Vortex, a team they defeated twice earlier in the season, last Saturday, May 9. Ashley Campbell gave Strikers their lead at the 12-minute mark when she converted Cindy Tafolla's perfect pass into a goal. However, Vortex scored two goals before halftime, then another in the second half. Strikers scored one more time late in the game when Danielle Lemucchi took a shot from the left side of the pitch. After the goalie made the save, the ball bounced to Campbell who tapped it to Susana Luna. Luna then found the back of the net. Strikers' goalies, Samantha Stephens and Kailey Richardson, each came up with several saves on breakaways by Vortex while Rachel de Landa and Abby Harrison also had an outstanding game for Strikers.
