Educational workshops to cope with job loss

As the California unemployment rate continues to spiral up, the Tri-City area residents are feeling the financial squeeze now more than ever. Along with fear and panic that accompany being unemployed are many questions people don't have answers to, whether it's insurance, unemployment benefits, or cutting costs with a large reduction of income. With personal experience with clients and friends being laid off in the Silicon Valley, Sierra Pacific Financial Advisors have chosen to do something about it.

Newark, CA - As the California unemployment rate continues to spiral up, the Tri-City area residents are feeling the financial squeeze now more than ever.

Sierra Pacific Financial Advisors (SPFA), a wealth management firm headquartered in Newark, has been proactively working with the Alameda County Library to host several job loss workshops titled "Financial Steps to a Job Loss Recovery." They've realized that when most people are hit with a pink slip, not only do they have a lot of questions, but feel they have nobody to listen and provide crucial answers. In order to benefit the community, SPFA have already begun a series of workshops in the Alameda County Libraries, and has successfully completed one at the Union City branch on April 26th.

"We've found that with the Bay Area being hit so hard with layoffs, it's more important than ever to help the community know their options and steps in terms of what to do following a lay off" says Janet Wan, CFP and Principal of Sierra Pacific Financial Advisors. Janet Wan has been working with her clients to grow and preserve their wealth for over 15 years, and knows that unemployment offices can't always provide the most specific nor detailed information to each person because of a lack of staff. "They're probably overworked, and with the amount of claims coming in, it's no surprise that they can't provide individual attention to each circumstance," Janet says.

Along with her colleagues, Janet will be hosting three more workshops in the immediate area in the upcoming months.
