April 29, 2009 > Plein air paint out Plein air paint out En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air" and is used to describe paintings that have been created chiefly outdoors, rather than in the studio! Sign-up and join fellow artists for a one day open air paint out at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont. You will find inspiration in many locations throughout the park with all the wildlife, the rolling hills, marsh habitats, panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay and the various floras as you capture the light and colors in the park. All 2-dimensional mediums like oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and mixed media, will be accepted. Artists will paint anywhere at an outdoor location within Coyote Hills Regional Park and not from a reference photograph. Plan on bringing your painting supplies, an easel, chair (if needed), a bag lunch and additional drinking water. Hats or caps are recommended. Dress in layers and for the weather. Completed pieces must return to the Coyote Hills Visitor Center by 1:30 p.m. for an exhibition of completed pieces for public viewing and an optional silent auction from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. People's Choice Awards will be held at the end of the day. The Paint Out is open to age 18 or over. Each artist is limited to only one submission for exhibition. The entry fee includes registration and a parking pass. Morning snack and a light lunch (between 1:30 - 2:00 p.m.) will be provided to the participating artists. We hope artists from all over the Bay Area will participate in the inspiration of the outdoors and an opportunity to promote art in the park.
