Please help support our little Sunshine

Kylie Pederson is a 6-year-old Fremont resident who was first diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in August of 2008 after months of complaining of chest and back pain. She had been back and forth to her doctor's office several times and had even been seen in the emergency room twice but her doctors could not find anything wrong with her. In August she began to experience difficulties breathing and her doctor decided to have a MRI performed. It was at this time they discovered a mass growing from her rib that was the size of a deflated basketball. It was later diagnosed as Ewing's Sarcoma.
Ewing's Sarcoma is extremely rare with less than 250 cases reported a year in the US. Because of her age and gender, the cancer is even rarer, with only three reported cases a year. Her estimated yearlong treatment has consisted of chemotherapy, a surgery to remove the tumor from her ribs, and radiation treatments. During her surgery to remove her tumor in early November, doctors discovered two other tumors growing in her abdomen. Since this discovery, her doctor, Dr. Wong at Santa Clara Kaiser, has increased her chemotherapy and has continued radiation.
Kylie's mother, Katherine, is a pre-school teacher but has been unable to work since Kylie has required 24-hour care. Kylie is such a special little girl and we are doing everything possible to support her and her family.
A benefit dinner will be held on Saturday, May 2, and 100% of proceeds received will go to supporting Kylie. Our benefit night will consist of dinner, music, and a great raffle. We have received many generous donations for this night including the facilities at the Fremont Elk's Lodge, a caterer who will provide a rib eye or chicken breast dinner, music supplied by a local Fremont band called Buzzy Dupree and the Faders and raffle prized provided by several local business. In order to make this night as successful as it can be we need a little support in getting the word out to our community.
