Break beats Strikers in girls soccer action

Strikers lost to Break for the third time this season, falling 3-0 on Saturday, April 25, in FC Fremont Girl's House U-15 league play.
But, it was not without a flurry of attacks midway through the first half. Break took a 1-0 lead at the eight-minute mark only to have Strikers come close to tying the game on several occasions.
First, Ashley Campbell just missed on a breakaway. Then, after Cindy Tafolla and Susana Luna fired long shots on goal, Samantha Stephens had another breakaway after receiving a booming kick from goalie Sara Hearn. However, Stephens' shot on goal was just wide. Abby Harrison nearly found the net on a direct kick and Jenna Wondka fired another long shot on goal before Break stopped the surge and took a 2-0 lead five minutes before halftime.
Stephens moved to goalie in the second half and kept the game close with five saves before Break scored again in the final minute. Kailey Richardson played well on defense for Strikers as did Danielle Lemucchi at forward. |
