Lisa Miller, Dispatcher of the Year 2008

By Simon Wong

Lisa Miller has been recognized as Union City Police Department's Dispatcher-Clerk of the Year 2008.

Union City Police Officers' Association selected Miller for the honor because of her professionalism, politeness and willingness to do more than her job requires. Management and the public recognize these qualities.

Her colleagues and the community appreciate her loyalty and dedication. Peace Officers and the public regard her as the focal point for help.

Miller's law enforcement career began in 1982 and she has worked with many agencies. She joined UCPD in 2001 and left in 2005 to complete her BA in Business Management then entered the private sector. On realizing how much she missed the public sector, she reapplied to join UCPD. Her colleagues welcomed her back in Sept 2008.

"I plan to complete my career as a dispatcher and retire from UCPD in 11 years. I've worked for other local government agencies. Union City is more of a team and family than most," she said of UCPD.
