In February 2008, council authorized staff to begin establishing "quiet zones" at Stevenson Blvd. and Nursery Ave. which obviates the need for train whistles and horns at that crossing. A series of raised medians at the Walnut Ave. will be sufficient to create a quiet zone when grouped with the previously-authorized crossings. This is a deviation from the previous prioritization of this crossing which called for a four-quadrant gate system.
