April 22, 2009 > Pro & Con: State Ballot Measures Pro & Con: State Ballot Measures Submitted By John Smith The Statewide Special Election on Tuesday May 19, 2009 was called to pass measures that deal with the California State budget. The measures are complex and need to be studied to fully understand the short term, as well as long term effects of each measure. The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City is hosting a presentation of the Pro's and Con's of Measures 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F that will be voted on in the May 19, 2009 California State election. Presenting the Pro & Con will be League members Alex Starr and Andrea Schacter. A discussion, with questions from the audience will be moderated by Holly Walter.
