Officers wait tables, earn tips for Special Olympics

Submitted By Gennifer Horowitz

Local law enforcement agencies, California Highway Patrol and Claim Jumper are joining forces to host the annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser benefitting Special Olympics.

Visit the restaurant's Pacific Commons location at 43330 Pacific Commons Blvd., Fremont, from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, April 16, to tip a cop for a good cause.

Uniformed officers and deputies will work alongside Claim Jumper's wait staff to earn tips by tackling tasks such as greeting guests (no frisking), serving drinks (just don't drive afterward), taking orders (instead of giving them, for a change) and bussing tables (beats bussing criminals).

The annual event raised more than $140,000 statewide last year.
