Libraries upgrade access technology
Submitted By Eleanor Zamora-Lajes
Alameda County libraries have installed state-of-the-art public computers that make the screen and keyboard easier to see and provide assistance for seniors and people with disabilities. The upgrades ensure all patrons can enjoy access to information and lifelong learning.
Open houses to demonstrate the assistive technology are scheduled for seven cities. Service providers are encouraged to attend.
The project was funded by the California Consumer Protection Foundation and the Alameda County Library Foundation. The open houses are co-sponsored by the Center for Accessible Technology and the East Bay Learning Disabilities Association.
