Get involved in Union City's Climate Protection Task Force
Submitted By Roberto Munoz
Union City is going green and you can play a key role. The City is looking for some very special individuals interested in serving on the Union City Climate Protection Task Force.
Recently, the City Council committed to reducing Union City's greenhouse gas emissions by 30% below 2005 levels by the year 2020. Residents, government and businesses will need to work together to reach this ambitious goal.
Beginning in May, the task force will meet once a month to provide feedback on a draft Climate Action Plan, sort of a blueprint for helping Union City become a more sustainable community. The task force will consist of elected officials, businesses representatives, and people who live or work in Union City.
The task force will likely meet once a month on a weeknight. Applications can be downloaded online at www.unioncity.org or obtained from the Planning Division at City Hall, 34009 Alvarado-Niles Road. Applications are due by Monday April 13. Task Force members will be appointed by the City Council.
