Free garden tour
With spring around the corner, thoughts turn to gardening. If you love Camellias "The Friends of Heirloom Flowers Garden Club" will host a free guided tour on March 25.
Tours will be of the beautiful Camellia Gardens of Robert Ehrhart in Walnut Creek. This private prolific garden has one of the finest collections of camellias in the world and a diverse collection of camellia species. It was a highlight tour of the 2009 American Camellia Society Convention in San Francisco.
The terraced hillsides below Ehrhart's tree-shaded home, includes almost one thousand camellia bushes and several thousand potted camellia plants consisting of six to seven hundred different varieties.
The Friends of Heirloom Flowers Garden Club holds monthly meetings where all are invited to participate in a garden volunteer-speaker-tour program. Club members garden at two Historical Parks in Fremont for two hours a week. Members share the love of gardening, other interests, and experience new learning techniques about gardening.
All are welcome to join and work together for the beautification of our community.
